Tasting Notes
This rosé is a delicate, very pale pink in colour. On the nose, lifted floral aromas mingle with notes of grapefruit and fresh strawberry. The generous palate is perfectly balanced by lively acidity.
Producer
Château Miraval is located in the Provence village of Correns, the first 100% organic village in France. All the crops, including grapes, are grown organically in this wild and picturesque town. Tucked away in its own private valley, the Château is surrounded by ancient woodlands and olive groves. In 2012, owner Brad Pitt partnered with the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel fame, who oversee wine production at the estate. Their continued dedication to improving quality, in both the vineyards and the cellar, have seen the wines go from strength to strength, with Château Miraval today considered one of the great names of Provence.
Château Miraval has 50 hectares of terraced vineyards. They are situated at 350 metres altitude, resulting in cool nights that moderate the warm days and allow the grapes to retain their delicate aromas and crisp acidity. The clay and chalk soils at Miraval are also important for quality, helping to regulate water supply to the vines so they have water when they need it and drainage when they don‘t. At harvest, the grapes are hand-picked in the coolness of the morning and hand sorted twice to ensure that only the best grapes go into the wine which blends Grenache, Cinsault, Rolle and Syrah.
The ‘Studio’ Rosé is a delicious blend of Cinsault, Grenache, Rolle and Tibouren which pays tribute to the many artists, including Pink Floyd and AC/DC, who have made tracks at the recording studio on the estate. The studio was recently redesigned and reopened in summer 2022, welcoming a new generation of artists to record their music on the estate.
Vineyards
‘Studio’ by Miraval is a blend of Cinsault, Grenache, Rolle and Tibouren. The vineyards are situated along the French Riviera, stretching from the mouth of the Rhône river to the gates of Monaco. The proximity to the Mediterranean Sea brings warm temperatures, which are tempered by the Mistral wind, providing excellent conditions for the grapes to ripen and retain acidity.
