Tasting Notes
Alfacinha — a popular term for natives of Lisbon — is a blend of Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional and Castellan, fermented in small stainless steel vats. As approachable as the Alfacinha themselves, aromas of red fruits, blackberries and raspberries procede a smooth, polished, fruit-rich palate with balanced acidity and ripe tannins, with secondary hints of dried meat and dark chocolate.
Lisboa is one of the most important Portuguese wine regions by vineyard area and production, extending about 150km north from the capital Lisbon but clinging to the coast. The climate is temperate with the inflence of the Atlantic, with relatively warm summers, mild, cooler and humid in areas closer to the sea, warmer and drier in areas protected by the Montejunto mountain range.
Try this with your own version of bifana, one of the pulled pork sandwiches Lisbon does so well.
