Producer
This family farm was traditionally dedicated to mixed farming with livestock, orchard fruits and grapes which were taken to the local cooperative.
However, in the early 1970’s the Larrieus were the first in the region to replant their vines on the steep, amphitheatre – shaped terraces facing to the Pyrenees. This move ensured much better exposure to the sun while the elevation contributed to the freshness in the resulting wines. From 1985 onwards, the estate changed over exclusively to viticulture and Jean Bernard Larrieu gradually took full control, farming his own vines and making, and bottling his own wine. He follows a biodynamic approach throughout his 17 hectare estate, aiming to make wines which are true to the land, with as little intervention as possible.
