Tasting Notes
This wine has an expressive nose with intense aromas of peach, citrus fruit and white flowers, complemented by an elegant minerality. On the palate, a mineral freshness entwines with a citrus hit which continues onto the long finish.
Producer
Domaine Jean-Pierre Bailly lies in the heart of the Pouilly-Fumé appellation. After taking over from his father in 2000, Patrice Bailly is the sixth generation to run this family domaine, which comprises 17 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc planted among the best vineyards in the hills of Pouilly-Fumé. The vines are between 10 and 40 years old, planted in the communes of Tracey-sur-Loire, Saint-Andelain and Pouilly-sur-Loire. They are planted at an average density of 6,600 vines per hectare on calcareous Kimmeridgian soils, which are typical of the appellation.
The grapes are destemmed and pressed upon arrival at the winery. After fermentation in temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks, the wine is left to rest on its fine lees for four months, adding texture and character to the finished wine. This charming Pouilly-Fumé is beautifully perfumed with aromas of peach, citrus fruit and white flowers with an elegant minerality on the palate and a lifted finish.
